VA Support Department

Almost 30% of all people who are diagnosed with mesothelioma each year are Veterans of the U.S. military.

Due to their great sacrifices and service, Veterans may be entitled to compensation from the Veterans Administration (VA) if they can show that they were exposed to asbestos while serving in the Armed Forces. MRHFM proudly helps mesothelioma victims and their families file a VA disability claim (and other claims in which the Veteran may be entitled) on a no-obligation basis and without any fees being paid to MRHFM.  We feel that it is important that we provide this service to our Veterans.

Why File a VA Disability Claim through MRHFM?

  • No cost to you. No fees are paid to MRHFM during the filing process. We are proud to offer this as a free service to Veterans as long as they are not already represented by a lawyer on a mesothelioma claim or claims.
  • Tax free compensation. Disability compensation is a tax free benefit paid to a Veteran for a service connected disability that happened as a result of active duty, training for active duty, or inactive duty training. MRHFM can assist in completely the appropriate paperwork to claim this tax free compensation.
  • Assistance with required proof of asbestos exposure. Proof is necessary for service connected disability. MRHFM can assist in assembling information required to prove “service connected” disability and file the claim forms for you.
  • Quick filing, more compensation. MRHFM can help gather the required information and file the claim forms as quickly as possible. The sooner the claim if filed, the more compensation you can receive. No matter when the claim is processed, if approved, the VA will back-pay compensation to the date the claim was originally filed.
  • VA accredited attorneys. MRHFM has a team of attorneys that are accredited with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This teams has assisted many clients who have served our country honorably through the process of obtaining VA benefits, including service connected disability.

What Happens After MRHFM Files a Claim?

After MRHFM helps establish a service connection and the correct paperwork is filed, the VA will assign a disability rating between 10% and 100% staggered in multiples of 10%.  We typically are able to show that Navy Veterans with mesothelioma are entitled to a 100% disability.  As of January 2022, a Veteran with 100% disability rating can receive $3,332.06 per month.  If that same Veteran has a spouse, the amount is $3,517.84 per month.
